The Hudgens Prize is a visual arts competition and juried show, open to all artists currently living full time in Georgia and age 18 or older. A $50,000 cash award and an invitation for a solo exhibition will be given to one selected Georgia artist, and the Finalist’s Exhibition will include works by 5 to 10 artists, chosen by the jurors. Visual artwork of any medium will be considered, but must meet certain size and weight criteria. Works previously exhibited at The Hudgens Center for the Arts are ineligible and all work must have been completed within the last two years.
The entry fee is non-refundable and entitles each artist to submit up to five entries. The entry fee for members of The Hudgens is $30, and the fee for non-members is $50 (includes one annual Artist level membership).
Jurors for The Hudgens Prize include David Kiehl, Curator of Prints at The Whitney Museum of American Art; Sylvie Fortin, Editor-in-Chief of ART PAPERS Magazine; and Eungie Joo, Keith Haring Director and Curator of Exhibitions and Public Programs at the New Museum in New York.
Entries must be postmarked by June 4, 2010. The Hudgens Prize Finalist’s Exhibition will be November 30, 2010 through February 19, 2011, and the $50,000 winner will be announced at the Award Celebration on the evening of November 30. The Hudgens Prize award winner’s solo exhibition will take place in December of 2011.
