Dominance or emphasis by repetition is the oldest, simplest, and most effective way of creating aesthetic unity.
In poetry, music, and dance, repetition occurs in time. In painting, architecture, and sculpture, repetition occurs in space. (excerpt from Maitland Graves) In "5 Horses" 36"x60" I tried to do just that along with the power of silhouette, which the horses were, by their very nature, being black.

Hey!! This is SO GORGEOUS!! I love the way the horse at the far left is looking out across the horizon! It`s so powerful! I also love the movement. I think it`s wonderful the way you made each horse stand out in his or her own unique highlights, shadows, and pose. Your variety of shapes take the viewer through a colorful and spiritually uplifting horizontal movement that is both relaxing and exciting. I think your color choice of the background sunset is exceptional also. It creates a statement without taking away from the subject. Instead, it ties in with the subjest by leading you from the far left horse and back through the painting again! Thank you for posting this truly awe inspiring painting!
